Habits: Eastern Chipmunks do not hibernate, but may stay underground for extended periods in winter. They spend vast quantities of time finding and storing food underground. Food is gathered with the front feet, and stored in cheek pouches. Three to five young are born per litter. Eastern Chipmunks feed mostly on acorns, nuts, berries and some insects. |
