Habits: Hispid Cotton Rats are active at all hours of the day. Their burrow systems are shallow and may have nests above ground. Extreme fluctuations or outbreaks in populations of Hispid Cotton Rats are common. Breeding may occur all year; litter size averages about six young. The diet is mostly plant matter and invertebrates. |
