Habits: This species was introduced into the United States from South America in 1938 to be used as a commercial furbearer. Nutria eat aquatic and semiaquatic vegetation. Females produce two to three litters per year; litter size ranges from 2 to 11. Nests are placed are water or in a burrow dug in a bank. |
