The diet consists mostly of small insects including moths, flies, and bugs. It is the most common summer bat in central Oklahoma. Individuals may or may not migrate; the species is not known to hibernate in the state. Mating probably occurs in late summer, and the sperm is stored until spring when delayed fertilization takes place; up to four young are born between May and July.
