| Lasiurus borealis (Red Bat) |
|||||||
Habits: This bat roosts in the foliage of trees. The diet consists mostly of small insects including moths, flies, and bugs. It is the most common summer bat in central Oklahoma. Individuals may or may not migrate; the species is not known to hibernate in the state. Mating probably occurs in late summer, and the sperm is stored until spring when delayed fertilization takes place; up to four young are born between May and July. |
