| Glaucomys volans (Southern Flying Squirrel) |
|||||||
Habits: Southern Flying Squirrels are nocturnal, and they seldom go to the ground. These animals do not actually fly, but glide or parachute from tree to tree. They live in woodpecker holes, and eat seeds, nuts, insects and bird eggs. Food is stored for the winter, and they have two litters per year. They are very gregarious and up to a dozen individuals may be found occupying tree holes. |
